Extremely Short Stories
(and overly-long descriptions)

When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Hitler! When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Hitler!

Original Synopsis:
A man's careless disregard for energy conservation puts him at odds with an obsolete war effort. The moral: “A journey of self discovery is best made on public transportation.”

Note: This piece was written before the current War on Terrorism. Bill Maher's book, When You Ride Alone, You Ride with bin Laden was inspired by the same WWII poster featured here.

The renewed conservation effort and old quasi-hymn You'll Never Walk Alone, suggest a revised moral: "However you travel, you're not allowed any damned privacy."

SubtextSubtext

Synopsis:
A motherless loner visits relatives who solicit his readership of an unexplained work.

Author's Note: I can't recall whether the character "Phil" was deliberately homonymic with "fill." Either way, it's up to the reader to fill what the story left open.

KarmaKarma

Synopsis:
Rowdy footballers score points with the cosmos.

Note: This piece was written before My Name is Earl engaged the same premise: Simple-minded characters embrace Karma. The fact that both this story and "Ride with Hitler" predate other works with common thematic elements prove the maxim: Unoriginality is timeless.
